I love Easter, maybe almost more than Christmas, in a religious holiday sense. Two years ago I was initiated into the Catholic Church through RCIA in West Des Moines at St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Dan and I went to Easter Vigil tonight at St. Leo here in Omaha and got to see some new candidates accepted into the Church. I'm always reminded of my own confirmation experience and get pretty emotional.
I texted my dearest friend and RCIA sponsor Meg after church. She has been such a wonderful influence and friend since we met more than two years ago. I miss her very much and hope that I can see her in Des Moines sometime soon.
I thank God for my wonderful life. I have a loving family, many special friends and a roof over my head. I'm healthy, have a good job and even though Dan and I go through rough times, we don't ever really want for anything. I'm truly lucky to be where I am in this world, and Easter always brings everything into focus for me.
Happy Easter!
Curious about the title? To "swim the Tiber" means to convert to Catholicism, since the Tiber River is the one you have to cross in order to reach Rome.
