Next week is September (already!) and I now realize how quickly a month can go by if you have three weddings to attend in a row! Each one was lovely and fun, but mamma mia I am exhausted. Nobody get married for a while!!
Bonnie and Jason Abbuhl
August 6, 2011 - Iowa City, Iowa
I've known Bonnie and Jason for a LONG time! We all grew up in Red Oak. My mom works wth Bonnie's mom and my parents hosted the reception. Everything was beautiful (of course, if you know Ron Drake you know that it couldn't be anything but gorgeous!)! Congrats, Bonnie and Jason!
Bill and Lauren Backer
August 13, 2011 - Iowa City Iowa
I headed east the following weekend for another wedding in Iowa City. In the same church, no less! Dan's good friend from Sioux City, Bill Backer married the lovely Lauren Breazeale. We've been friends with the Backers for a long time! They came to visit us when we lived in Des Moines, and now that we've moved to Omaha, they've moved back to Des Moines! I think the universe is trying to tell us something....
Dan was a groomsman and we had a GREAT time! I got to catch up with my good friend Nick from Drake since he is in dental school in Iowa City, and even saw some other Drake friends since Bill also went to Drake. Best weekend I've had in a while since I didn't have a lot of responsibilities other than HAVE FUN! Congrats Bill and Lauren!
Megan and Rex Petry
August 20, 2011 - Overland Park, KS
After traveling to eastern Iowa two weekends in a row, I got to go south for a change! My godsister Megan, who I've known her entire life, married Rex Petry, whom she met at Northwest Missouri State University. Megan and I have always joked that we were actually family, and through a strange twist of events, we actually ARE related now! Rex's dad's uncle married one of my mom's cousins in Missouri! So I was related to Rex before I even knew who he was!
I had the privelige of serving as Megan's Matron of Honor, and it was fun! I'm a details person, so fussing over her dress and all the little things was actually fun for me. I don't have a good photo of Megan and Rex yet, so I'll post these for now! Congrats, Megan and Rex!
I'm really happy for all three of these great couples. But I'm also glad that all I have to do this coming weekend is work at Coach and then go home! Labor Day is in Okoboji...can't wait for some boat time and a Rum Runner from Barefoot Bar! Cheers!
